We are very excited to announce a special auction of folk, outsider, and found art from the collections of Chuck and Dan Auerbach!
Chuck has been a fixture in the antiques market for over 40 years, uncovering amazing objects from his home base in Akron, Ohio. He has an amazing eye, always looking for what he calls "Americana, but on the graphic, quirky, one-of-a-kind side."
Although best known for his role as lead singer and guitarist for the Grammy-winning duo the Black Keys, Dan clearly learned from his dad a love of folksy Americana.

More about Chuck and Dan
Chuck Auerbach has been buying and selling antiques for over 40 years from his home base of Akron, Ohio. Auerbach started off in the business doing small shows near his then-home in Goshen, New York and in southern Connecticut. His offerings impressed Russell Carrell, the longtime manager of Manhattan’s famed Winter Antiques Show, and Carrell invited Auerbach to participate in the shows he managed. In the decades that followed, Auerbach has criss-crossed the country selling at both outdoor and indoor shows, making a living as a full-time antiques dealer. Chuck’s sons, Dan and Geoff, often sought out antiques and worked shows with their father in their younger years. Chuck has eclectic tastes that run from textiles to folk and outsider art, “Americana, but on the graphic, quirky, one-of-a-kind side.”
It is not an overstatement to say that Chuck has had a significant impact on the American folk art market. He may not have exhibited at the top-tier shows, but many great objects that were bought and sold at those shows were initially found by him.
In addition to his antiques business, Chuck is also an accomplished musician and lyricist. His son Dan is part of the Grammy-winning duo the Black Keys. Chuck contributed lyrics to the Black Keys’ first album in 2003, as well as Dan’s first solo album, Keep It Hid, in 2009. Chuck released his own debut album, Remember Me, in 2018.
About his decision to sell, Chuck says, “I’ve spent 44 years hunting. I’m slowing down, traveling less and would like to pass on some of my finds to like-minded friends.”

Dan Auerbach is a talented singer, songwriter, and producer, but is best known as the lead guitarist and vocalist of the Black Keys. Auerbach and drummer Patrick Carney have been friends since their childhood in Akron, Ohio, and formed the band after dropping out of college to pursue their music. The blues rock duo released their first album, The Big Come Up, in 2002, to critical acclaim. They have since released ten more albums and Auerbach has won a total of eight Grammy awards.
Auerbach relocated from Akron to Nashville in 2010 and together with Carney, established a studio downtown. In addition to recording his own music, Auerbach worked as a producer. In 2017, he established his own label, Easy Eye Records. Easy Eye has since released over two dozen albums and racked up an impressive 16 Grammy nominations.
In addition to his musical pursuits, Dan is a serious collector of “rustic” antiques. He described his collecting: “I was raised by an antique dealer who was always on the hunt. I was with him at the flea markets at the crack of dawn and out on the backroads on a never ending trail of exciting finds. Needless to say, I caught the bug and have been buying and collecting for years and years, much of it while out on the road with my band.”
